02 / BEHIND THE SIGNAL
A sonic
resurrection.
This Halloween, SQUAAWKE brings an evening of entirely original electronic music to Bayview Community Hall on Whidbey Island. Expect hypnotic psytrance, dark industrial rhythms, acid synthesizers, gothic electronics, experimental soundscapes, and the occasional descent into full-blown psychedelic opera madness.
Behind SQUAAWKE is Craig Ellenwood, musician, producer, video artist and creative technologist. His history includes founding the music and sound camp element of Burning Man in 1992; performing and recording with Psychic TV; producing and DJ’ing in the early Goa psychedelic trance scene worldwide, including playing full moon beach parties in India; and performing alongside Dr. Timothy Leary, Robert Anton Wilson, Moby, and members of The Smiths. Craig Ellenwood also created large-scale immersive audiovisual environments at AREA15 in Las Vegas.
More recently, he released three albums in one week, including Gerlach Isn't Real, inspired by his experiences at early Burning Man.
This is not a DJ set of other people’s records. Every track is original SQUAAWKE music.
